start again today no. 32: breathing, life changing questions, frozen βοΈ, what's next?
Hey ππ½,
Last year, I learned to breathe.
Relax your belly. Now inhale down into the tips of your lungs.
my dad said, pinching air between thumb and index finger on either side of his torso to help me visualize.
Exhale.
He didnβt say βyouβve been doing it wrong,β i just knew. My shoulders melted, my spine extended and my mouth curved upward.
I learned how to start again from my Dad. He left the corporate job that moved us overseas after 25 years to pursue something more. He built his Tai Chi passion into a practice. He created a business out of the ashes of the 2008 recession with his bff. He rediscovered his love for painting, sea breeze and saltwater.
Heβs showed me how to see and question my default settings. Learn, unlearn, relearn.
Inhale. Then let go.
Here are a few things I enjoyed this week:
π§ 17 questions that changed my life Tim Ferris, 10m
#5: What if I could only spend 2 hours per week on my business? What would I do?
#13: Am I hunting antelope or field mice?
+ the art of being alone Farnam Street, 7m
β€οΈ thawing out my racism Caitryn Megan, 7m
My usual response to uncomfortable situations is not flight or fright, but freeze. Instead of leaping to action, Iβm immobile. Ice. There were many white people who, upon hearing of George Floydβs murder and watching the video, completely froze. I was one of them.
πΆπ½ββοΈwhatβs next? Dazed, 4m
In under 4m, spoken word artist Kai-Isaiah Jamal and filmmaker Emily McDonald explore what life looks like after isolation and invite us all to drive change forward. Must watch.
I have scrapped my bucket list today. I am starting it again today.
I see you, I love you, happy Fatherβs Day,
H
