start again today no. 11: the worst horse, reality is detailed, give wholeheartedly, do what you need to cope

Hey šŸ‘‹

According to Zen Mind, Beginnerā€™s Mind, there are 4 kinds of horses: ā€œexcellent ones, good ones, poor ones and bad ones.ā€ The worst horse is the one that has to experience the most pain to perform.

The worst horse requires the most external motivation, and finds practice challenging. The worst horse probably wants to give up.

The author posits that there is great value in the struggle of the worst horse. The difficulty of practice create more meaning in the work. I asked my Dad about this. He said:

You need friction to get traction to move forward.

šŸ§  Think: reality has a surprising amount of detail John Salvatier, 9m

When Johnā€™s family emigrated from Colombia to America, he worked alongside his brother and father building fences, sheds and stairs. The work was surprisingly detail oriented, and helped John understand how people get intellectually stuck. Noticing detail in your work, life and world, may be the very thing you need to get unstuck.

OH in the elevator yesterday:

Why werenā€™t you at Medium Rare yesterday?

Iā€™m trying to start my year strong and didnā€™t feel like getting drunk before 12pm.

How unfortunate.

I threw up in my mouth, then thought of the self care meets lets go to the movies meme that blew up on Twitter earlier this week which opened up a bigger question. When will the pendulum swing back on the myth of ā€œbe kind to yourselfā€?

Itā€™s going to be an fun decade.

I see you, I love you, letā€™s have a great week.
