start again today no. 2: tell me what you want (what you really really want)

Hey đź‘‹

Last week, I challenged you to do…nothing. How did it go?

Even Bill Gates, who reads upwards of 50 books a year and is changing the world one major problem at a time, takes time to pay attention to and distance himself from his thoughts.

On Wednesday night, I sought advice on how to sit still from a mentor, who advised me to take 10 minutes to just feel my heartbeat and give into the sh*t eating grin. I needed the reset (and it worked!)

Dedicated time to do nothing has helped me figure out what I want…and change my life.

But, what do you want?

🧠Think: how to get what you want.

Our time is limited. Without focus, you can end up doing a bunch of stuff…without really getting anywhere. “When you know what you want, you notice opportunities most people aren't aware of.”

Not sure what you want yet? Before you focus, maybe you need to give yourself some time to daydream.

❤️ Feel: remember, there are multiple ways to get what you want.

A little boy with the heart of a warrior had the best Halloween ever thanks to some creative thinking, community support and a Canadian commitment to kindness (it spreads).

🚶🏽‍♀️Do: help others understand what you want

Feedback is not a four letter word, but is often associated with pulling apart past behavior making the giver and receiver both feel sh*tty. The next time you need to give feedback at home, at work or to yourself, try this:

  • Here’s what’s working well

  • Here’s what I’d like to see more of

If you haven’t yet, checkout Inside Bill’s Brain on Netflix for a reminder of what’s possible once you figure out what you want…and how you can help.

I see you, I love you, let’s have an awesome week.
