start again today no. 46: change, a frog 🐸, stoic

Hey 👋🏽,

I didn't know that Biden won until I went to get coffee.

"BYE DON!!!"

read a giant sign at Clove and Cedar.

A car drove by with a big blue flag hanging out the right rear window. Horns beeped triumphantly at the star shaped intersection a block up.

I'd let my phone die after spending 20 minutes or maybe forever sitting with a frog on Friday night.

Why isn't it moving mom?

Asked 5yo, crouching down to tap it lightly.

It's scared. How would you feel?

I checked my phone then stared at the frog. It sat frozen in time. Hoping we'd just go away. Hoping as many of us hoped to stop seeing red this week.

I checked my phone again, in a rush to nowhere. Noticing how reluctant I was to wait, I sat down on our front stoop.

Eventually, 5yo got cold or bored or both. He stood up slowly and the frog hopped away. We could not outlast the frog, able to sleep away a season.

We went inside to wait more, a bit more stoic. I reached for my phone but put it face down in drawer. I can change and so can we. Enough for today.
